{"id":74,"date":"2013-03-22T19:14:47","date_gmt":"2013-03-22T19:14:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/yardeats.com\/blog\/?p=74"},"modified":"2013-03-22T19:27:12","modified_gmt":"2013-03-22T19:27:12","slug":"how-to-eat-to-live","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/yardeats.com\/blog\/?p=74","title":{"rendered":"How To Eat To Live To Be 1,000 Years Old!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">Scarce Book by Black Muslim Leader Reveals Many Lost Health Secrets<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yardeats.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_1110.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-77\" alt=\"IMG_1110\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yardeats.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_1110.jpg?resize=225%2C300\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yardeats.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_1110.jpg?resize=225%2C300 225w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yardeats.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_1110.jpg?resize=768%2C1024 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yardeats.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_1110.jpg?w=1944 1944w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yardeats.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_1110.jpg?w=1280 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Elijah Muhammad, the now deceased leader of the Black Muslims in America, wrote a very interesting book for his followers back in the 1960s.\u00a0 His thoughts on the eating habits of most people and the junk we eat are appropriate to read about today.<\/p>\n<p>The author was a student of the Bible and the Koran, and used the knowledge of those books to shape his philosophy on eating.\u00a0 First and foremost, he recommends eating only once a day.\u00a0 Then, after your body is used to that, try eating only once every other day.<\/p>\n<p>Although the book was written for black folks, to get them out of the bad habits that they got from white civilization, not only the constant non-stop gluttonous eating but also what they eat.\u00a0 He admonishes his followers not to eat any pork, anything from the swine.\u00a0 His group is close to the Orthodox Jews in this aspect, avoid ham, bacon, pork.\u00a0 He also extolls fruit as great food, fruit of any kind.\u00a0 As for vegetables, most yes, but some no.\u00a0 He is against peas, large beans (small navy beans are ok), collard greens, corn, and soy to name a few.\u00a0 The book lays out the reasoning behind this.\u00a0 Many of the foods that are not to be eaten are foods that were given to slaves.\u00a0 His thoughts are that the food that the plantation owners fed their slaves was the lowest quality, but years of being forced to eat those foods transformed into a cultural trend, still being fulfilled 200 years later.\u00a0 Go to a &#8220;soul food&#8221;
